Job Summary

To assist in providing a comfortable environment by being attuned to changes, both mentally and physically, not only for the patient but also families, friends and co-workers.   • Must be able to work weekends and holidays.

Essential Job Duties

  • Positive and supportive team member to staff members and the hospital.
  • Attends staff meetings.
  • Strive to ensure continual compliance with Departmental and Hospital Policies and Procedures and State/Federal Regulations.
  • Participates in mandatory in-services.
  • Can identify and access system to report abuse to employees and/or patients.
  • Adheres to policies and procedures for infection control, safety and risk management.

Sub-process: Patient Care

  • Provides morning care, evening care and general routine care to assure patient comfort.
  • Prepares for meals, assists in feeding patients, passing water, and other nourishment.
  • Assists and accompanies patients with admission, transfer and discharge.
  • Takes and records vital signs, daily weights.
  • Collects specimens.
  • Make rounds willingly, anticipate patient needs, and responds to call lights promptly.
  • Maintain a clean and safe environment for patients and other nursing staff.
  • Move, lift and ambulates patients and assist in transporting to other departments as needed.
  • Keep accurate records on Intake and Output.

Sub-process: Obstetrics

  • Labor: applies fetal monitor, does vital signs.
  • Post-Partum: Does vital signs, monitor fundus and flow take specimens to lab, clean areas.
  • Nursery: Does vital signs on babies, do daily newborn care.
  • Stocking OB
  • Discusses space and other resources needed by the SCU – LD 2.9
  • Update/write new P&P’s – LD 2.3.

Sub-process: Equipment and Supplies

  • Proficient in the use of equipment pertaining to the job.
  • Maintains equipment for the patient are areas and reports malfunctions to appropriate personnel.
  • Applies soft restraints properly when ordered
  • Applies telemetry and ED cardiac monitors properly.

Sub-process: Teamwork

  • Assists with nurses station duties.
  • Observes and reports any changes in patient condition or behavior.
  • Assist in orientation of new employees.
  • Establish a good rapport with patients, families and visitors, respecting patients’ right to privacy and confidentiality of information.
  • Participates in nursing report and gives any additional report to co-workers.
  • Maintains the charge system.
  • Prioritized workload and completes assignment within allotted time. Works as a team with co-workers.
  • Establish a good rapport and working relationship with other departments.
  • Shares in organizing schedule complications.

Qualifications:

Education/Certifications:

  • High School graduate or equivalent.
  • Colorado Certified Nursing Assistant Certification
  • CPR

  • Experience Required:

  • One year Nursing Assistant experience

Skills/Abilities:

  • General knowledge of all Micro Soft Office products

Base Rate - $12.29 DOQ
